Student FAQs

Who can apply to The List?

We welcome applications from current undergraduate and graduate students who have skills in and around UX research and design, product management, and software development. For certain projects, we may recruit specific additional specialties. We particularly encourage applications from students from underrepresented backgrounds in tech.

What is the time commitment?

The summer program runs for 12 weeks, requiring 40 hours per week. Students must be able to commit to the full duration of the program and work primarily from our space in Durham.

Is this a paid opportunity?

Yes! Students receive competitive compensation for their work.

What kind of projects will I work on?

Projects will vary but may include things like: building new features, improving existing products, or doing discovery research for early-stage startups. You'll work in a cross-functional team with other students who bring complementary skills.

What support will I receive?

You'll have regular mentorship from The List team, access to workspace at American Underground, and guidance from your matched startup. We also provide orientation training and weekly check-ins.

When do applications open?

Applications for our Summer 2025 cohort open are open as of February 2025! We’ll accept rolling student applications as we line up startup projects and sponsorships!
